My mission in life is to engage you in discovering the rich and rewarding relationship you can create with your dog through positive training and behavior management.
Gentle
The application of science-based methods to dog training and behavior modification represents a huge breakthrough in dog training. As this paradigm shifts away from compulsion-based training, we as a society are leaving the dark ages of dog training behind. No longer must “training” mean inflicting “corrections” on our dogs in the form of pain and fear of pain. This only serves to confuse our dogs about what we want, suppresses behavior and damages our relationship, without changing the dog’s internal state. Thankfully, we are moving into a new day and time, that is win-win for us and our dogs.
Because I rely on positive and relationship-based approach, I do not advocate or employ the use physical force or harsh corrections. I do not consider these to be “humane” methods. I use my brain not pain to train. While I would not go as so far to say force should never be used, if these methods are employed they should be a last resort after all positive methods have failed.
Effective, Fast and Fun
I use a dog-friendly approach that capitalizes on the way dogs think and learn, as well as their natural instincts and drives, which makes training effective, fast and fun for both you and your dog.
Be assured, positive training does not mean permissive, and you will learn how to control your dogs impulses while earning their respect as the gatekeeper of all they value; food, freedom and fun, affection, companionship and the expression of instinctive behavior.
I use primarily positive reinforcement, including clicker training, to make your wishes clear and motivate your dog to learn. Find out why this is effective.
I also use a unique, holistic approach to training and behavior management that encompasses the whole dog; body, mind and spirit.
The Proof
You can see the difference in people and their dogs who embrace relationship-based methods – they are upbeat, energetic, confident and eager to learn. Because dogs chose to cooperate with you, without the use of force or fear of pain, training is enjoyable for both of you and it “sticks.” See the faces of those with two legs and four legs, who are happy, satisfied customers throughout this site.
